On behalf of Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation, we extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Treaty 6 150 Planning Committee, consisting of BOCN staff with Pemiska Tourism and numerous BOCN departments who came together with a shared vision and unwavering commitment to help make Treaty 6 150 a historic success.

Over the course of four incredible days at Fort Carlton, we welcomed approximately 4,000 registered participants from across Treaty No. 6 Territory and beyond. What began as months of planning, meetings, logistics, and coordination transformed into a celebration that honoured our history, our Treaty, and our people in a truly remarkable way.

We are especially honoured to have welcomed representatives from Treaty 6 Nations who proudly raised their tipis in the Village of Nations, creating a powerful visual representation of unity, kinship, and nationhood. We were also honoured to host hand games players from across Canada and the United States, whose participation added excitement, cultural pride, and connection to the gathering.

The significance of this milestone gathering was reflected in the distinguished guests who joined us, including Her Excellency the Governor General of Canada Louise Arbour, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, Assembly of First Nations National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak, Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations Chief Bobby Cameron, and Saskatchewan Lieutenant Governor Bernadette McIntyre. Their presence underscored the importance of Treaty No. 6 and the enduring relationship it represents.

A special acknowledgement must be made to the incredible kitchen team led by our very own Melanie Gardypie. Feeding thousands of people multiple times, a day is no small task, yet Melanie and her team of esteemed BOCN members rose to the challenge with professionalism, dedication, and tremendous heart. Their hard work ensured that guests, Elders, performers, volunteers, and participants were welcomed with warm meals and hospitality throughout the event.

Planning an event of this magnitude is never easy. It requires countless hours of preparation, problem-solving, teamwork, and sacrifice. Yet, thanks to the commitment and determination of everyone involved, Treaty 6 150 exceeded expectations. Throughout the gathering, Elders, visitors, and guests repeatedly shared how happy they were to be at Fort Carlton. Many remarked on the beautiful setup, the welcoming atmosphere, and the sense of pride and unity they felt while attending.

In addition, we acknowledge and thank the staff of Office of the Treaty Commissioner who contributed their time, expertise, and support to this event. We extend special recognition to OTC-employed BOCN members Elaine Sutherland, Morgan Esperance, and many others whose efforts helped strengthen the success of Treaty 6 150. We also wish to thank Saskatchewan Parks and the Fort staff for their partnership, cooperation, and support in helping ensure the success of this historic gathering. Their collaboration was invaluable in bringing this vision to life.

To the volunteers, staff members, cultural coordinators, grounds crews, security personnel, setup and teardown teams, performers, speakers, liaisons, and everyone who worked behind the scenes: your contributions matter. Every tent raised, every meal served, every guest greeted, and every challenge overcome played a role in creating an unforgettable experience.

Together, you helped place Treaty No. 6 Territory and BOCN in the spotlight during a significant moment in our shared history. You helped create a gathering where stories were shared, relationships were strengthened, culture was celebrated, and future generations were reminded of the promises, responsibilities, and spirit of Treaty.

The success of Treaty 6 150 belongs to all of you.

Your efforts will be remembered for years to come, and your contributions have left a lasting legacy for our Nation and all Treaty 6 peoples.
