Our Purpose
The Urban Services department is rooted in cultural revitalization and restoring our identity within the city. We prioritize the Cree language, working to integrate it into daily life through shared use and immersion. Through hands-on teachings like beading, ribbon skirt making, and dentalium jewelry, we create space for storytelling, mentorship, and connection.
By strengthening relationships between Elders and youth, we help pass on knowledge, traditions, and protocols. Our goal is to ensure our culture is not just remembered, but actively lived—keeping our people grounded as they move forward.
advocacy
Direct support for navigating health, social & wellness systems.
empowerment
Professional certification and life-skills training.
culture
Hands-on workshops focused on traditional crafts & heritage.
stability
Emergency resource distribution & strategic community planning.
Preserving Culture
Preserving
Culture
Our goal is to ensure our culture is not just remembered, but actively lived. From BOCN to our community living in various cities across Canada, we want to keep our people grounded in our culture as they move forward.
