Council Statement: Zero Tollerance For Illegal Activity & Creation Of Disturbances

July 21, 2026

To all residents and guests of our Nation,

Once again, the Chief and Council of Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation (BOCN) want to make it clear that the safety and well-being of our Nation is our top priority.

We will continue to take a ZERO-TOLERANCE APPROACH to all illegal activity within our Nation. Any homes found to be involved in the sale of drugs, gang activity, or other criminal behaviour will be shut down immediately by order of the Chief and Council. These actions are causing harm to our community and will not be tolerated.

If any children are found residing where the above-mentioned activities are taking place, QBOW Child and Family Services and the RCMP will be notified, and appropriate legal action will be taken.

Homes of interest and the individuals residing there will be provided with an opportunity to access support and resources available within the community. However, if no action is taken or illegal activity continues, we will proceed with immediate enforcement measures.

All residents and guests in BOCN are expected to show respect for community members by keeping noise levels down after 11:00 p.m. This includes excessive ATV use, setting off fireworks, and any other activities that disrupt the peace, safety, and well-being of our Nation.

Each unit of interest will be contacted directly. Copies of BOCN’s Housing Policy are available by calling BOCN Public Works and Housing: (306) 467-1000.

Let us come together and move forward in unity as we continue to build a safe and healthy Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation.

With Respect,

Chief and Council
