An Open Letter to the BOCN Powwow Committee from Chief Ananas & Council

To the BOCN Powwow 2026 Committee,

On behalf of Chief and Council, and the entire Nation of BOCN, I would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to each of you for the outstanding work you contributed to planning, organizing, and delivering a successful traditional Powwow.
This year’s Powwow was a tremendous success and served as a powerful reflection of the strength, resilience, and pride of our Nation. Bringing together community members, visitors, dancers, singers, Elders, youth, and families, the event created an atmosphere of unity, cultural celebration, and respect for our traditions. It was an occasion that honoured our people and showcased the rich cultural heritage that continues to guide and strengthen our community.

What makes this accomplishment even more significant is the short timeline and the many challenges that accompanied the planning process. Organizing a gathering of this size requires extensive coordination, careful attention to detail, and a great deal of commitment. Despite these challenges, you stepped forward, worked together, and ensured that the event was well organized, welcoming, and successful from beginning to end. Your willingness to go above and beyond when needed demonstrated the dedication and pride you have for our Nation.

We are especially proud of everything that was achieved under such circumstances. The countless hours you dedicated, including long days, late evenings, weekends, and the many behind-the-scenes efforts that often go unseen, played a vital role in making this celebration possible. Every task, whether large or small, contributed to the overall success of the event. Your hard work, patience, flexibility, and teamwork did not go unnoticed and were greatly appreciated by all who attended.

Because of your efforts, our community was represented with dignity, respect, and pride. You helped create an experience that not only honoured our ancestors but also strengthened community spirit and memories for everyone who participated.

The success of this year’s Powwow is a testament to what can be accomplished when people come together with a purpose. Through your dedication and commitment, you helped create a powwow that celebrated our culture and created space for all to come home in a good way.

Please accept our sincere thanks and recognition for your service to Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation. We acknowledge the tremendous effort required to organize and deliver a celebration of this scale, and we are grateful for the care and commitment each of you brought to the process.

Thank you once again for your tenacity, dedication, and hard work. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to create meaningful celebrations for our Nation in the years ahead.

Mistahi kinanâskomitinawâw,
